La forma allungata del corpo con un collo robusto che culmina in una testa piccola e rotonda è tipica di queste creazioni artistiche prodotte dai Mumuye, il cui utilizzo non è ancora completamente chiaro. Le sculture Mumuye sono di dimensioni e tipi diversi. La scultura qui presentata è probabilmente di una figura femminile. Secondo gli specialisti infatti il genere delle figure viene determinato dalla forma delle orecchie: maschili se piccole e a forma di tromba, femminili se grandi e forate, come in questo caso.

The elongated shape of the body with a strong neck culminating with a small round head is typical of these artistic creations produced by the Mumuye and whose use is not yet perfectly clear. The Mumuye’s sculptures are of different size and type. The hereby sculpture represents probably a woman, figure according to those specialists who indicate in the shape of the ears the gender of the figures: when small and trumpet shaped the figure should be a male and when large and pierced, like this one, female.
